THE TENTH MEETING OF THE GRANT COMMITTEE IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE RURAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The tenth meeting of the Grant Committee in the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project was held on March 1, 2023 under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Finance - Majidi Yusuf Khairullo. This meeting was attended by members of the Grant Committee from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Culture, State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Committee for Tourism Development, National Bank of Tajikistan, Executive Body of State Power of Khatlon region, employee of the Rural Economy Development Project of the PIU under the Ministry of Finance, Grant Management Company and Grant Enablers companies.

At this meeting of the Committee 42 grant applications were submitted for consideration, including 5 projects of the executive bodies of state power of cities and districts and 37 business plans for farms and small and medium-sized businesses in the fields of agribusiness, tourism and related sectors in Khatlon region and GBAO.

The proposed projects and business plans are aimed at improving public infrastructure for the development of tourism and related sectors (renovation of buildings and purchase of equipment for a museum, culture house and a hotel (state), construction of a meat and dairy pavilion), purchase of equipment for processing, packaging and storage (organization of cold storage) of agricultural products after harvest, honey processing, development of crafts (making souvenirs and iron products), repair and purchase of necessary materials and equipment for organizing and improving the work of hotels, hostels, homestays, cafes and canteens.

The proposed projects and business plans were carefully reviewed by the Grant Committee, as a result of which 41 grant applications were approved for financing, 1 grant application was returned for revision.

It should be noted that within the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project 10 meetings of the Grants Committee were held, as a result of which the project supported 277 grant applications (22 projects and 255 business plans) for a total amount of 3,3 million US dollars for the development of agribusiness, tourism and related sectors in Khatlon region and GBAO.
