THE TWENTIETH MEETING OF THE GRANT COMMITTEE IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE RURAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The 20th meeting of the Grant Committee in the framework of the Rural Economy Development Project was held on January 17, 2024 in the building of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Committee for Tourism Development, National Bank of Tajikistan , Executive Body of State Power of Khatlon region, employee of the Rural Economy Development Project of the PIU under the Ministry of Finance, Grant Management Company and Grant Enablers companies.

At this Committee meeting, 57 grant applications were submitted for consideration. Of these, 3 projects were submitted by the executive bodies of state authorities of cities and districts, and 54 business plans were submitted by business entities in the agro-industrial complex, tourism, and related sectors of cities and districts in Khatlon province and GBAO.

The proposed projects and business plans are mainly aimed at improving public infrastructure for the development of tourism, agribusiness and related industries (overhaul of buildings and purchase of equipment for the house of culture and the museum, construction of a meat and dairy pavilion), purchase of equipment for processing , packaging and storage (organization of cold storage) of agricultural products after harvesting, honey processing, purchase of equipment for the development of crafts (embroidery, decoration of national costumes, making wood crafts), tools for the art workshop, repair and purchase of necessary materials and equipment to enhance the sanitation standards of hotels and homestays, recreation areas, canteens and teahouses.

Following a thorough review by the Grant Committee, 56 projects were approved for funding under the Project, while one project was returned for revision.

Under the Rural Economy Development Project, the Grant Committee has held 20 meetings to date. As a result, a total of 672 grant applications (30 projects to improve the infrastructure of government agencies and 526 business plans of economic entities in the tourism and agribusiness sectors) have been submitted in the cities and districts of Khatlon and GBAO for a total amount of $6.3 million.
